Etymology: In honor of D. Robert Harold Compton.
Place of Origin: Cape Province, in South Africa.

Formed by short stems that can remain almost hidden. It features opposite, long, and fleshy leaves with a cylindrical cross-section, smooth surface, and glaucous green color. The leaves contain a reserve of liquid water in a specific cavity. It produces large, bright yellow flowers. The fruit is a small capsule that opens in the presence of moisture.
