Fenestraria
N.E.Br.1925.
Etymology:
From the Latin fenestra, meaning "window," in reference to the translucent areas on its leaves.
Place of Origin:
Namibia
Highly adapted to extremely arid regions. It features a stem that remains completely hidden, with only the upper part of its awl-shaped leaves visible, characterized by a distinctive apical window that allows light to penetrate. Photosynthesis occurs on the inner surface of the leaf through this window, following a strategy similar to that of Lithops. It produces an interesting daisy-like flowering.
