Etymology: In honor of Thomas Cooper.
Place of Origin: South Africa, Eastern Cape and Free State Provinces.

Compact-growing plants. Extremely fleshy leaves, which constitute their main water reserve, arranged in opposite pairs on short, branched stems. Highly adapted to arid climates and rocky areas, capable of growing on almost bare rock. Produces small asparagus-like inflorescences with tiny tubular flowers. Widely used as an ornamental plant due to its ease of cultivation and propagation.
