Maihuenia poeppigii
Philippi ex K. Schumann 1898

Cespitose plants forming dense cushion-like clumps. They feature jointed stems, small, cylindrical, and succulent leaves that persist year-round. Their flowers are solitary, yellow, hermaphroditic, and appear in spring. The fruit is a fleshy, indehiscent berry. They prefer altitudes between 1,000 and 2,500 meters above sea level, in cold, sunny, and rocky environments.
