Etymology:
In the form of a grape due to its leaves.
Place of Origin:
South Africa, Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces.
Perennial succulent with small, globular, and compact bodies that grow forming dense colonies. Each body consists of one or two fused leaves and has a grape-like shape, from which it derives its name. The flowers are solitary, hermaphroditic, and typically white or yellow. The fruit is a capsule that releases very small seeds. It thrives in arid, well-drained soils.
